Sample Composite
From victim and witness verbal description of a
crime, a skilled composite artist can create a
police sketch of the criminal to aid in the
identification and detainment of the suspects.
A composite drawing generally takes from 2 to 3
hours to complete.

People often remember much more about the
identity of the perpetrators of crime than they
think they do. With proper and appropriate
interviewing by the police sketch artist a usable
likeness can be obtained and aid in the
conviction of the criminals.

Though it is preferable to create a composite
drawing soon after the crime, depending on the
witness or victim, a successful composite
drawing can be drawn weeks, months or even
years later.

At times a witness may have trouble working with
a particular composite artist for various reasons.
This does not mean that a composite cannot be
made, often a successful composite drawing can
be completed by working with a new police
sketch artist.

A composite drawing can be a great relief to the
victims and witnesses of crime because the face
is recorded and they do not have to remember
that face constantly. Active participation in
finding the criminals can lift an enormous weight
off of the shoulders of the victims and their
families.
